The Eastern Lawa ethnic group of Northern Thailand numbers about 10,000 people. The project began in 2011 with developing an alphabet for the Eastern Lawa language and also crafting a set of oral Bible stories from the Old and New Testaments which have been uploaded in an app. The focus is now on written Bible translation and literacy.
The Eastern Lawa project has been supported by Wycliffe Singapore’s R200 Programme since 2015.
This event is jointly organised by Wycliffe Singapore, Bukit Batok Presbyterian Church and Prinsep Street Presbyterian Church.
About the speakers:
Greg and his wife, Rosie, have worked in Thailand since 2008, and with the Eastern Lawa people since 2011. Their work has consisted of both oral and written Bible translation, and language development.
