Topic: Tips for Language Learning

How can you learn a new language that does not have a written form? How would you plan a language learning programme for yourself? Bible translators often face these issues, especially when working with an unreached people group.

In this workshop*, you will be introduced to:

• the nature of language and language learning principles

• basic phonetics and the International Phonetic Alphabet

• a variety of language learning techniques

• how to work with a language helper (native speaker)

• some software apps/programs for language learning

About the speaker:

David and Sharon started a translation project among an unreached people group.

David has a background in Physics and Maths, and Sharon in Law and Librarianship. Neither were linguists before joining Wycliffe!
