LINGUISTIC DIVERSITY
The over 7,000 languages in the world are a wonderful expression of God’s creativity! The extinction of minority languages results in a loss of identity, culture, inherited knowledge, and a part of God’s creation.
Board of directors and management:
Elder James Wong
Elder James is an Elder of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He serves as a cell group leader in his Church with his wife. He leads a men’s group in the Bible Study Fellowship Singapore, and believes in building up the next generation of believers amongst the young men under 40yrs old. He is involved in Wycliffe Singapore's R200 projects through fund-raising and going on mission trips with his Church to serve other language communities.
James is retired. He and his wife have three married children, and they are currently “grandparenting” 2 of their 5 grandchildren.
Ms Quek Li Choo
Li Choo had graduated from the National University of Singapore Law Faculty and is currently employed within a multinational bank as its Regional Head of Corporate Secretariat for Asia (ex-Japan). Prior to her employment with the bank, she was in private practice at a local law firm. She worships at Barker Road Methodist Church, where she has served in the Sunday School ministry since 1998. She attends church cell group regularly and had enrolled with Bible Study Fellowship since 2015. She is thankful for God’s redeeming grace and the privilege to serve Him.
She is mother to 3 sons, Justin, Julian and Jonathan.
Ms Yong Chih Ying
Chih Ying worships in Paya Lebar Methodist Church where she serves as the church treasurer and in the Family Life Ministry. She wants to continue serving where ever God gives her the opportunity to, using the skills that she has been equipped with.
She graduated from NTU School of Accountancy and works as a director and a practising Chartered Accountant in a local public accounting firm.
She is married to Alex and is blessed with 3 wonderful children.
Mr Cheah Choi Thim
Thim worships at Bedok Methodist Church and serves as a cluster leader, having previously served as a cell group leader. He also serves in the Chinese worship ministry as a guitarist. He has an interest in languages and finds alignment with Wycliffe’s vision to see lives transformed through God’s love expressed in the heart language.
Thim is an Accountancy graduate from the Nanyang Technological University. He had previously worked in the global markets divisions of a foreign and a local bank. His current role is a Senior Treasury Manager in an agribusiness MNC. Thim is married to Elith and they have one son.
Mr Patrick Lee
Patrick is a retiree and worships at Grace Baptist Church. He helps out in the sound and worship ministry. He has seen the changing trends in recent years in Missions and Translation work and is excited with what God will be doing in the coming years.
Patrick holds a B.Eng. from Monash University. His previous position was Demand Manager at Emerson Process Management. He is married to Grace and has two sons.
Mr Paul Pello
Paul has lived in Singapore for the last 12 years, migrating from Australia. He worships at Grace (S.C.C.) Church, and has been active in cell group and social outreach ministries since young. He has seen the transformative power of the Word on people’s lives, and is eager to see this extended to those without a Bible translated in their heart language.
Paul holds multiple degrees from the University of Melbourne and Monash University, and is currently Head of Change in a multinational bank. He is married to Dessy, and is blessed with two sons, Caleb and Elias.
Mr Simon Wan
Simon serves with Wycliffe Singapore as the Associate Director for Church Partnerships following his role as the Asia-Pacific Area Director in Wycliffe Global Alliance. Prior to joining Wycliffe Singapore in 2011, he was pastor at Bethesda Pasir Ris Mission Church for 5 years. Upon graduating from NUS in 1992, Simon worked in the shipping and oil trading industry for about 10 years.
Being a fifth-generation Christian, Simon is thankful for missionaries and is passionate about serving God's servants. He is married to Dawn and is blessed with 5 wonderful children.
Mr Charles Ho
Charles and his wife, Hoong Yen, were based in the Mekong region for a total of 13 years serving among many unreached people groups. Their ministries involved Business as Missions, Information Technology, Literacy and Leadership. Charles' other ministry roles included Partnership Facilitator in the area of Scripture and Community Engagement, and Director of Strategic Initiatives for the Wycliffe Global Alliance Asia-Pacific Area. Upon his return to Singapore in 2018, Charles served as the Missions Director in Bartley Christian Church. In Oct 2021, Charles took on the role of the Executive Director of Wycliffe Singapore.
Charles holds a MA in Global Studies and is passionate about exploring new frontiers in World Missions, advocating Missional Discipleship and Soccer.
