Naya
Fast Facts:
Languages: Naya*
No. of speakers: 250,000
Christians: 30%
Location: Asia**
Project start date: pre-2009
Expected completion: beyond 2026
Long-term Goals:
Publish the NT, Psalms and Genesis.
Do Scripture use and promotion activities after publication.
Help Naya Christians deepen their faith and be good witnesses in the community.
The Naya people are farmers and hunters in a mountainous region of Asia. Although a large percentage are Christians and/or Roman Catholics, many are not believing or practising Christians. The people fear spiritual forces and try to placate them with offerings.
Many Naya churches use the Bible in the language of another tribe. This is not effective as it is not the heart language of the people. Many older people are not able to understand the Bible in the national language. Scripture in their heart language will equip believers to share the gospel with their non-believing neighbours.
