Jin

Fast Facts:
  • Languages: Jin*

  • No. of speakers: 1,000,000

  • Christians: <2%

  • Location: Asia**

  • Project start date: 2006

  • Expected completion: beyond 2030

Goals:
  • Translate the New Testament and parts of the Old Testament.

  • Improve the lives of the people through community development projects.

Many of the Jin people are farmers who grow rice, corn and other crops. As it can be difficult to find jobs locally, many adults go to bigger cities to find work. The Jin people speak their own language for social and religious purposes rather than the national language. However, many cannot read or write in their own language.

Their traditional religious practices are a mix of animism and ancestor worship. Only about 1% of the population is Christian, and believers often face persecution from their families and communities.
