The Alpine Meadow* people are mainly farmers who live in mountainous villages. They are spread over four countries in Asia. Green Grass* is one of the 40 or more mutually unintelligible dialects.
The people are almost wholly animist. There are a few Catholic meeting points due to early missionary efforts, and a small number of Protestant Christians because of the witness of those who moved elsewhere and returned to visit.
There is a high level of mother tongue language use because of their relative isolation. Most of the people have low levels of education and are regarded as poor and ignorant by the majority culture.
* For security reasons, pseudonyms are used for the language name and names of individuals.
